Building a Kingdom Community
SOMA Building a Kingdom Community is a multifaceted model for spiritual formation. Fortunate to be a student of world-renown author and teacher Dallas Willard, Pat became intrigued with learning more about the theme of the Kingdom of God. Dallas Willard emphasizes God’s Kingdom as he teaches and as is evident is his authorship of books such as The Divine Conspiracy and Spirit of the Disciplines. A favorite term of Dallas Willard is growing in Christ-likeness.
SOMA Building a Kingdom Community is designed to assist the participant in that journey. The six-month model includes:
- A weekly Teaching Series, with emphasis on formative Old and New Testament texts dealing with God’s eternal KingdomA weekly Small Group Format explaining the biblical significance and experiential use of the spiritual disciplines
- A Spiritual Retreat experience designed to create an opportunity to deepen the participant’s relationship to God through simplicity, silence, solitude interspersing community of faith interaction
- Prayer Partners or a Mentoring utilized to develop one-on-one relationships among members of the body of Christ
- A Healing and Reconciliation component, if desired, to assist in moving beyond roadblocks in the journey
The word soma in Greek means body.
It often refers to the physical body of an individual.
Sometimes it is used metaphorically to refer to the church,
the Body of Christ.
Now you are the body of Christ, and each one of you is a part of it. 1 Corinthians 12:27
